In Unrelated Stories, Brian Williams Performs 'Rappers Delight,' Apologizes to Arsenio Hall

I do not typically go for the those videos where a celebrity’s voice is spliced together in such a way as to mimic the act of performing a song, but geezus, this is flat-out amazing, especially in the way that Lester Holt is brought in. I don’t know whose job it was on Fallon to edit this together, but if he hasn’t gone completely mad, he deserves all the accolades and about 14 hours of silence.

Those of you who are skeptical, press play. I’m about to, for the third time.

Meanwhile, in a totally unrelated story, Brian Williams apologized to Arsenio Hall on air last night, hosting the NBC Nightly News from Sochi. Why? Because in putting together a Brady Bunch-like montage of late night hosts with whom Jimmy Fallon will have to compete, he failed to include Arsenio in it. Hall wasn’t pleased. From Deadline:

Williams’ apology came hours after Hall nicked Williams during Tuesday’s The Arsenio Hall Show for leaving him out of the report. “If you’re doing a story about late-night, all I ask is that you mention me,” Hall said on his show. “You don’t even have to use a photo. I know how journalism is these days - use Samuel Jackson - it doesn’t even have to be my photo. Use Laurence Fishburne. Just mention me.”

No offense to Arsenio, but his ratings are basically on par with an infomercial right now, so I’d hardly include him among Fallon’s late night “competition.”
