Hey, Will Ferrell, Stephen Colbert will see your 30 second, seen only in Nebraska, Old Milwaukee commercial, and raise you by 40 minutes and 53 seconds. Because if you’re going to do guerrilla comedy, by God you might as well do it right.
Colbert hosted last night’s episode of Only In Monroe, the public access show featuring news and entertainment for Monroe, MI. He claims he’s been itching to host a talk show, but because his theater isn’t ready yet, he decided to take over theirs. And guys, I think he might be serious about that. He didn’t show up with 5 minutes of material and 37 minutes of charm. He didn’t decide he could just wing it for the last seven eighths of the show. This was a clearly well researched, well prepared show. And it is a masterpiece.
If you don’t have time to watch all of it, make time. Neglect your kids/ work for 40 goddamn minutes. There’s a long weekend coming up anyway. What’s so important that you can’t watch this show?
But if you can’t watch the whole thing right now, at least watch the first five minutes.
If Colbert’s Late Show has half the production value that this show does, we’re going to be fine. Colbert is ready to go, and everyone is on-board. Well, maybe not Eminem.
