For The Record: Tiki Torches Denounced White Supremacy Before Trump Did

That’s where we’re at. On Friday night, a bunch of racist white assholes marched upon the University of Virginia carrying Tiki torches. The very next day at 4:49PM, TIKI BRAND (the maker of Tiki torches) made a public statement via Facebook denouncing White Supremacists, and making it clear their brand in no way supports white supremacy.

This was not long after President* Donald Trump made that grotesque “many sides” statement that failed to outright condemn the actions of violent white supremacists and Neo-Nazis. It should have been a simple task, a simple statement: Nazis are bad. It’s one American movies have made for decades. And yet the reality-TV star turned Nightmare Czar shanked it. Sure, he’d call a do-over two days later. But by that time, the dog whistle had been heard far and wide.

Seth Meyers addresses Tiki torches, Charlottesville, racist fuckheads and their leader Trump on Late Night.
