Elisabeth Moss Is the Master of Verbal Ass Kickings

One of the worst forms of television arguing goes something like this:

Person 1: I command you to do something.
Person 2: Nah bro, I’m not gonna do that.
Person 1: I WILL REPEAT THE EXACT WORDS I JUST SAID BUT THIS TIME I SCREAM THEM IN YOUR FACE.

If someone did this to you in real life, you would probably either back away slowly, never to return, or punch them square in their screaming faces (also never to return). Yet this method is oh so common in television, especially the actiony thriller shows. By the last few seasons of Lost, I think this was the only way Jack communicated with people.

Which is why it’s ultimately a breath of fresh (if still combative) air to see Elisabeth Moss essentially give a master class in how to put someone in their place while maintaining a register barely above a whisper. Hell, she does it on Mad Men all the time with just a well placed smirk.

In this new clip from Listen Up Philip, she gives Jason Schwartzman an expertly subdued verbal ass kicking, with only a bit of help from her asshole of a cat.
