Today, Phil Hartman (finally) posthumously received a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Below, you can watch the video of the small ceremony which included short tributes from Kevin Nealon, Jon Lovitz, Hartman’s brother, and others. There aren’t many big laughs, just a lot of love.

A fun fact: the star was placed on Hollywood Boulevard, outside of a store called Hollywood Toys and Costumes because it was, apparently, a place he loved.

He used to be a regular here. He would come to Hollywood Toys and Costumes to buy disguises to fool his friends and his coworkers. And he always succeeded.

Also, today, August 26th is now officially Phil Hartman Day in Hollywood. I still recommend we all try to live every day like it’s Phil Hartman Day, but it’s good to make it official. Another piece of good news announced in the ceremony: the official Hartman biography, You Might Remember Me: The Life and Times of Phil Hartman will be released on September 23rd.

After watching that tribute, you can also celebrate the day with this roundup of some of Hartman’s best moments, to which I would like to add but one more.
