Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn And Kristen Bell Say All The Sh*t Parents Wish They Could In 'Bad Moms'

I’m not going to have kids. So I understand that my role in parenting discussions is to not say a goddamn word. I trust that all of the parents here know that their roles in our relationship is to not ask what’s “wrong with you,” but that’s a discussion for another day.

Right now we’re talking about being a mother, the pressure placed on mothers by society and each other, and how sometimes even mothers just want to do some fucking whip-its and not give a shit for one goddamn minute. (Red Band version below, SFW version here.)

1) I will always watch Kathryn Hahn playing a depraved sociopath. Always.

2) As Dustin said, the market for movies about a woman-child, let alone women-children, hasn’t been saturated yet and therefore I believe this movie can get some mileage out of the “shocking” fact that women are crude. Plus Kristen Bell talking about shoving balls up inside her will never not be funny.

3) Thank fucking Christ that we’re past the cult of motherhood bullshit that the media was playing up a few years ago. Because paying lip service to only the miraculous parts of pregnancy and motherhood does a real disservice to actual, real-life parents. You don’t spontaneously orgasm every time you change little Phineas’ diaper? Well clearly you’re not tapped into the righteous flow of being a mother. You don’t spend every moment of that middle-of-the-night feeding staring lovingly into Imogen’s face and thanking the old gods and the new for being alive? You’re a terrible parent, and need to rededicate yourself to your children. Or it’s that being awake at 2am and not drunk sucks balls, and shit is always shit.

If we’re being realistic about parenthood, from my close observations, having children is the greatest thing parents will do. And sometimes you want to kill your children, and sometimes you want to kill your spouse/partner, and sometimes you have trouble deciding who you’d like to kill first and fuck it, I might just burn this whole place down. So let’s all acknowledge that parents are neither perfect nor should they be. That raising children is difficult enough without the pressure to do all things correctly all the time while being endlessly graceful and patient. That sometimes parents need to be away from their beloved children. And that having a baby doesn’t mean you lose the desire to fucking lose it; it only means doing it less often.

And most importantly, if any moms out there want to form their own Kunis/ Bell/ Hahn trio, I’ll happily play your Judy Greer.
