2014 VMAs The Political Edition: Common Calls for Moment of Silence

You know how you’re getting older? It’s when you only know about the VMAs the day after they happen. It turns out the were last night, and amidst the recent political and social strife, they were a more subdued affair. Specifically subdued when Common called for a moment of silence “for Mike Brown and for peace in this country and in the world.”

I feel like the more attention kept on Ferguson, the better, and I don’t want to knock Common when he’s clearly trying to use his fame for a good cause. But guys? That was the shortest moment of silence ever. MTV execs? Give it an extra few seconds. No one, I repeat, no one will mind if your post coverage of the awards show/ rerun of the awards show gets cut short.
