'Westworld' Showrunners Promise All The Secrets Of Season Two Will Be Revealed In This Video

Yesterday Westworld showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy sent shockwaves across the internet, promising that to avoid spoilers for season two they would share all the spoilers for season two in a special video. Basically, they claimed in a Reddit AMA that fan theories during season one proved to be spoilers. So if they released the actual spoilers ahead of the show, the true fans wouldn’t spoil it for others. Yeah, I don’t get it either. But here’s what they wrote in part:

We thought about this long and hard, and came to a difficult (and potentially highly controversial) decision. If you guys agree, we’re going to post a video that lays out the plot (and twists and turns) of season 2. Everything. The whole sordid thing. Up front. That way the members of the community here who want the season spoiled for them can watch ahead, and then protect the rest of the community, and help to distinguish between what’s ‘theory’ and what’s spoiler.

It’s a new age, and a new world in terms of the relationship between the folks making shows and the community watching them. And trust is a big part of that. We’ve made our cast part of this decision, and they’re fully supportive. We’re so excited to be in this with you guys together. So if this post reaches a 1000 upvotes we’ll deliver the goods.

Last night they delivered a video, which begins with Jeffrey Wright’s Bernard awaking on a beach, covered in bodies. To say any more would be spoilers. Check out below, and no matter how spoiler-averse you are, you’ll want to watch the 25-minute video until the 1:46 mark.

Come on, gang! You knew who you were dealing with.

Was a show that spent season one deeply devoted to its mystery box really going to give it all up over fear of fan theories? No! They were going to lure you in with all the promise of secrets, with Wright’s brooding narration, with Delores’s sweet smile. And then Evan Rachel Wood is going to rickroll you with a tender rendition of “Never Gonna Give You Up.” And you’re going to be grateful, because you got punked by Westworld, but spoilers are preserved.
