Guillermo Del Toro is a chronic overscheduler. He’s got big dreams of making all sorts of good stuff, and it feels like we’re often promised new work by this master of the macabre and surreal. But then, like ghosts, those projects disappear. Or end up in someone else’s hands.
Netflix has Del Toro on lock this year though and we’re getting not one but two projects from him. First, we learned about Pinocchio, co-written and co-directed by Guillermo himself! That’s coming to Netflix in December.
Today, there’s a new trailer for Cabinet of Curiosities, an eight-story anthology series Del Toro is producing for the streamer.
Released over four nights, starting on October 25th, it is the Halloween gift that keeps giving. Netflix Geeked Tweeted out this thread with details on directors, writers, and stars:
8 chilling stories. 4 nights of double features. 1 Netflix Halloween event.

Cabinet of Curiosities includes stories from Catherine Hardwicke, Mika Watkins (Black Mirror), Vincenzo Natali (Splice), Regina Corrado (The Strain), David Prior (The Empty Man), Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) and Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night) among others. You know what? This might actually be scary, as opposed to some of the more watered-down content we’ve been getting online lately.
