How’s that saying go? “It’s better to burn out than to fade away,” or is it, “You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” I’m not sure if either applies to Jon Stewart, exactly, but if Mr. Stewart wants to properly compete with his own protégés — John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, Sam Bee, Jordan Klepper, Hasan Minhaj, Michelle Wolf, etc. — he’s going to have to do much better than three minutes of dick jokes. They’re not even good dick jokes.
Alas, here is something of a teaser for Jon Stewart’s forthcoming Apple TV+ series, The Problem With Jon Stewart, a hastily thrown together short about Jeff Bezos’ jaunt into space featuring Jason Alexander as Bezos, Adam Pally as Elon Musk (who apparently just says “choad” a lot), a mop as Richard Branson, and a stray cat as Mark Zuckerberg.
Stewart himself doesn’t actually feature in the short, and it’s still unclear what to expect from his upcoming series (hopefully no more vaccine conspiracy theories), but the level of comedy here is on par with Adam Sandler. Like, Netflix Adam Sandler.
At least he’s pointing his “comedy” in the right direction, but he has to do better than a series of Dad dick jokes.
Sorry for the aborted launch!!! I’m a bad twitterer.
