I didn’t think we needed this series until I watched this trailer and now I’m all in. It promises a deeper, more complex, look at the lives of the players and society in 1943, while retaining the humor of the original film. Plus, D’Arcy Carden and Abbi Jacobson!

In 1943, Carson Shaw travels to Chicago to try out for the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. There, she meets other women who also dream of playing pro baseball and makes connections that open up her world. Rockford local Max Chapman also comes to the tryouts but is turned away. With the support of her best friend Clance, she must forge a new path to pursue her dream.

Besides Carden and Jacobson (who, along with Will Graham, is credited as a creator of the series) A League Of Their Own also stars Chanté Adams, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Roberta Colindrez, Kelly McCormack (Letterkenny, Killjoys) Priscilla Delgado, Molly Ephraim (Perry Mason), Melanie Field (The Alienist, Heathers) Kate Berlant, and Dale Dickey (Claws, Unbelievable). With a little Nat Faxon and Nick Offerman, as a treat.

A League Of Their Own begins streaming on Amazon Prime on August 12th.
