The popularity the American reboot of The Office has achieved is pretty massive. Despite ending its run over a decade ago, it continues to reach new generations through streaming, podcasts, and being one of two things Comedy Central airs on a neverending loop. The show’s continued popularity made it feel like it would never be rebooted or remade; until original creator Greg Daniels shocked everyone in January by confirming his plans to do, at least, dip his toe back into the show’s “universe.”

The new show will continue the stories set in the world of the original show. It will take place in a new office with new characters. According to Deadline, pre-existing characters could return for cameos, but there won’t be a full-on reunion of the Dunder Mifflin crew. Details about the show are still scarce, but we now know of a new creative voice who will join Greg Daniels.

Deadline reports that Michael Koman has emerged as a leading creative voice of the show. Koman has an impressive list of credits on his resume. He has written for SNL, MadTV, The Colbert Report, and won an Emmy while writing for Late Night with Conan O’Brien. He is also a co-creator of Nathan For You, a documentary show where people are put in wildly uncomfortable positions for a chance to be on television. In other words, he’s perfect to help shepherd a new Office for the next generation (being married to Ellie Kemper, a cast member on the OG The Office, probably doesn’t hurt, either).

Koman and Daniels will be co-creators on the new show. Their names inspire a great deal of confidence. It’s a show I would not think I’d want, but everything said so far makes me hopeful. The mockumentary method is tried and true. They might not even be focusing on a paper company. It will be fresh stories by seasoned creators using a form of storytelling that has long proven successful. Call me a billionaire business owner, because I think it’s time we all go back to The Office.
