Disney’s hit show, The Mandalorian, will be making its return to Disney+ on October 30th. Today they dropped a trailer full surprises, boats (more on that in a second) and everyone’s favorite meme fodder: Baby Yoda. Add in a little Carl Weathers and you got yourself a stew!

The trailer highlights the eponymous character’s mission to return the young Yoda to “a race of enemy sorcerers.” We’re greeted with new locales, Tusken Raiders, Scout Troopers, Space Boxing, WWE Superstar Sasha Banks and the recent source of controversy that is Gina Carano.

There’s some exciting stuff in the trailer, but I have to rattle a few cages here. I have to question something that I do not understand and I don’t care whose toes I step on in the process! Here we go.

Is Mando riding on a boat at one point? The answer: Yes.

Why?! In a universe of space and hover travel, why take a regular old boat?! I know that The Mandalorian wears its influences on its sleeve. Like the original trilogy, it’s rife with nods and references to western, samurai and war films and stories. There’s just something about having a boat that doesn’t hover or defy gravity that struck me as odd.

I love me some Star Wars. I’ve dipped my toes in many of the various iterations, but I never recall seeing a boat. Ever. Is it out there? Am I missing a Moby Dick style tale from the Legends books? Perhaps one of the Filoni cartoons? Can someone from the notoriously chill base that is Star Wars fandom explain this to me?! I refuse to google “are there boats in Star Wars?”

Anyway, The Mandalorian season two premiers on October 30th.
