Just when you thought it was safe to go outside! Honestly, if you have thought that, I envy you. We are still dealing with COVID, especially here in NYC. Why not add another disease to the mix? Monkeypox is making its way into the U.S. and it’s still a small enough problem that I’m ok to joke about it. Then there will be a middle ground where I don’t feel comfortable because it’s too real. Then it will get so out of hand that I’ll have no choice but to joke about it lest I drive myself insane. Fun!

The Colbert Crew is open to joking about Monkeypox, that’s for sure. They kicked off their latest episode with a Curious George cartoon. The catch, the Man in the Yellow Hat has Monkeypox and can’t possibly figure out why! It’s a pretty funny bit with the wonderful Brian Stack lending his voice to the Man. As someone who is searching for new books to read to his kids, it was also nice to be reminded that Curious George still exists.

For now, Monkeypox is a small problem. Eventually, that may change. Until then, we can all hide our heads in the sand and laugh about something that barely affects us. You know, before it becomes an unavoidable issue that forces us into our homes to avoid the waiting kiss of a painful, node-ridden death.
