I haven’t seen it yet, but I plan to watch Difficult People, a new series on Hulu starring Julie Klausner and Billy Eichner, produced by Amy Poehler — who is apparently heavily involved in the production of the series. That’s why folks on social media are coming after Poehler specifically for a joke in the series made at the expense of Blue-Ivy, Beyonce’s three-year-old daughter.
“I can’t wait for Blue Ivy to be 18-years-old so R Kelly can piss on her,” is the joke that Julie Klausner’s character makes, a joke that it criticized by Billy Eichner’s character and an online troll in the series, who tells Klausner to “kill herself” for the joke.
That sounds like a joke that’d be made on a Billy Eichner show.
Nevertheless, Poehler is getting criticism from it on Twitter, and it hasn’t been pretty.
Gotta protect our kids. That Amy Poehler joke is totally unacceptable. All Blue Ivy did was be born. #BlueIvy

I canceled my Hulu subscription as soon as I heard they allowed Amy Poehler & her show Difficult People to say that Blue Ivy, R Kelly joke.

Dear Hulu, Difficult People should be cancelled. #AmyPoehler should give Blue Ivy Carter and her parents a public apology.

That Amy Poehler skit including Blue Ivy is disgusting, and it shouldn't even see the light of day.

"I can't wait until Blue Ivy is old enough for R. Kelly to piss on her."
You and your new show are both disgusting @smrtgrls @amypoehler

There are a lot more tweets like that, and it’s hard to say that’s the general consensus or if that’s an overreaction from Beyonce’s fanbase. All I know is that it’s hard to make comedy these days, and Amy Poehler is a wonderful goddamn person.
The joke, on the other hand?
