— Rami Malek became the first non-white actor to win the Best Actor award in 18 years. Malek is also the first Egyptian man to win the category.

— It was the first time since 2007 that neither Jon Hamm nor Bryan Cranston were nominated in the Best Actor category.

— With its three wins, Game of Thrones surpassed Frasier for the fictional show with the most Emmy awards.

The People vs. O.J. Simpson received the most number of awards on the night, with 5 (it was also the the most nominated series of the Emmys, with 22).

— FX won 18 awards Emmy awards this year, besting all basic cable networks, broadcast networks, and streaming outlets. It tied with HBO among the major awards.

— Only one broadcast network won a major award last night: PBS, with two (Sherlock for outstanding movie, and Dame Maggie Smith for supporting actress in a drama).

— Tatiana Maslany was the first Canadian actor to win for a performance in a Canadian show (Orphan Black).

— The two men who won the the comedy categories — Jeffrey Tambor in Transparent and Louis Anderson in Baskets — both won for playing women.

Last Week Tonight broke the streak for wins by variety shows that air nightly, becoming the first weekly series to win since 1997.

Transparent’s two wins extends its lead as the most awarded streaming series, with 8.

— It was Julia Louis Dreyfus’ 7th Emmy win, five for her role in Veep, a record number of Emmys for playing he same character. Cloris Leachman still holds the record for most wins by an individual performer, with 8.

— The best line of the night goes to Rami Malek, for the first line of his acceptance speech.

— Malek also wins for best reaction shot.

— Chris Rock wins for best faux outrage reaction shot

— The “Oh God, I Think I’m Going to Cry” award goes to Kate McKinnon for her emotional speech.

— The Degree of Difficulty speech goes to Julia Louis Dreyfus, who managed to thank all the appropriate people and make a very funny joke at Donald Trump’s speech and dedicate the speech to her father, who passed away two days before.

— Best bit of the night: Matt Damon, who mocked Jimmy Kimmel for losing in his category.

— The worst bit of the night goes to Jimmy Kimme’s PB&J time waster, which managed to both rip off Ellen Degeneres and David Letterman without adding anything new.

— The night’s best cameo goes to Jeb(!) Bush, who appeared in the opening bit and both mocked himself and Donald Trump.

— The making-up-for-last-year’s snub goes to Ben Mendelsohn, who should have won for last year’s performance in Bloodline instead of this year’s performance, where he appeared in a much more limited role and only in flashbacks.

— The “You still have a lot to make up for” award goes to Regina King, who won an Emmy for the second year in a row for her performance in American Crime. Four or five more Emmys, and they’ll finally make up for her snubs in Southland and The Leftovers.

— The best off-screen thank you goes to Hillary Clinton.

— The best celebrity tweet of the night goes to Patton Oswalt

Finally, the “I can’t be mad” award goes to the snubs of Fargo and The Americans, which both went home empty-handed, but it’s hard to argue against People vs. OJ Simpson and those who won opposite The Americans.
