I don’t have to tell you that the first presidential debate of 2020 was unruly, because you’re a sane and observant human being. Dana Bash called it a “sh** show” on national television. However, much of that “sh**” was the result of Donald Trump interrupting on a regular basis. It was disruptive and childish. While current events may leave the next debate uncertain (at least for now) Stephen Colbert opened his show last night by giving us a taste of what the next debate could be in our dreamiest of dreams.

The hilarious sketch begins with several CBSN anchors discussing possible changes to be implemented by the debate commission. What follows are clips from first debate with an unseen hero pushing a big green mute button… and then some other buttons for good measure.

Not gonna lie, the “silent movie” button gave me a good chuckle. Why doesn’t Trump rock a twirly mustache in real life?? I feel like it would solve so many misunderstandings! What button would you add to the mix? Personally, I’m not complicated. A big purple button that is pressed when a candidate lies and turns them into beloved McDonald’s mascot Grimace.

Think about it!
