This week, SNL will welcome Dua Lipa as both the host and the musical guest the day after her latest album release. The show has also named the hosts and musical guests of the last two episodes to close up the 49th season of the series.

Longtime cast member and two-time host Maya Rudolph will get her third crack at it on May 11th with musical guest Vampire Weekend. She is promoting her Apple TV+ series Loot, which started out as an amiably amusing show and has evolved into a legitimately funny comedy. I hope she also gets the opportunity to say bubble baff.

The season finale this year will be hosted by Jake Gyllenhaal. He hosts on May 18th in support of his forthcoming Apple TV+ series, Presumed Innocent, based on the Scott Turow novel (that was also adapted into a film starring Harrison Ford). Sabrina Carpenter will perform as a musical guest. The former Girl Meets World star was once linked to Joshua Bassett and is also my daughters’ third favorite artist behind Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift.

Ahead of the show’s 50th season, it’ll be interesting to see who sticks around another year and who leaves. I am guessing that Michael Che and Colin Jost will not exit at least until after the election. It’s a solid cast right now — even you, Andrew Dismukes — so I am not in any rush to see anyone leave, although I have a strong suspicion about two who won’t be back. I’ll keep that to myself.
