I want to be excited about an eight-episode reunion series of the iconic 90’s comedy, Roseanne, but I’m not sure I’m quite there yet, and I don’t think I ever will get there. Roseanne Barr is coming back, and she’s … well, read her Twitter feed. Meanwhile, Goodman’s character died in Roseanne, and yet, he’s also coming back, so the reunion will need to do some retrofitting to make all of this work.
Anyway, Deadline is reporting that Barr, Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf and others are on board, and that it’s currently being shopped, with ABC (the show’s original network) and Netflix the most likely landing spots. The series’ original producers, Tom Werner and Bruce Helford are also set to return for the reboot.
I dunno. Roseanne was amazing, though the last couple of seasons soured the legacy of the series somewhat. This feels a little too cash-grabby, though. I’m not sure that nostalgia has enough intoxicating power to successfully bring back a series that went off the air 20 years ago.
I mean, Roseanne Barr? On television again?

Can’t we leave well enough alone? Do we really need to give an Islamophobe a warm, nostalgic reunion?
This is not going to end well.
