'Rick And Morty' Incites The Return Of McDonald's Szechuan Sauce
It started as a ludicrous joke used to radically veer away from a harrowing potential backstory. But Rick Sanchez’s quest for McDonald’s discontinued Szechuan Sauce became Rick and Morty co-creator’s one-armed man. Following the season three premiere last April, Justin Roiland took to Twitter to demand the fast food behemoth bring back the special dipping sauce that was long ago part of Mulan movie promotions. And eventually, that led to McDonald’s sending the Rick and Morty team their own special batch of that sweet and spicy sauce. But apparently the demand from Rick and Morty frothing fandom grew too loud for McDonald’s to ignore. So to promote their new Buttermilk Chicken Tenders, they are rolling out a string of dipping options including the limited edition Szechuan Sauce.
They’ve even made special edition posters that look heavily influenced by a certain sci-fi cartoon sensation.
But here’s the bad news: Szechuan Sauce is available for a limited time. Like really limited. Like one day only. And only at select locations. If the lines for the Rick and Morty promo truck are any indication, lines will be long, and Ebay will soon be flush with posters and sauce at demented prices.
Mark you calendar. October 7th starting at 2PM, select McDonald’s locations will get schwifty.
