I, like many, enjoy relaxing with a piping hot hour of The Great British Baking Show (or as my husband calls it Staring Into Ovens). The show’s 5th season (in its American iteration, it’s actually the 8th “series” for The Great British Bake Off, as it’s referred to over there. This is further complicated by the fact the 9th series of GBBO already began airing in the UK) is the first since it moved networks from BBC to C4 and therefore Americans’ first glimpse of the show with new judge Prue Leith replacing lover of the word scrummy, Mary Berry. Like many, I worried it wouldn’t be the same. However, as Alyssa already reported, our fears were unfounded. Prue is a delight. But what I was most taken by in GBBS: The Next Generation, was Prue’s flair for chunky necklaces and love of primary colors. And I am not alone.

It seems as if most of Britain has fallen in love with Prue’s colorful take on playschool chic. Her necklaces have not only amused and delighted they’ve also inspired duplication and invited cheeky comparisons. Here are a few of Prue’s bold choices, to give you an idea about the level of lewk Prue serves on the regular.

Prue never falters; each episode features a different bauble that would turn Mr. Crayola himself Forest Green with envy. And people are having a bit of fun on social media sharing what Prue’s jewels remind them of.

And it’s not just comparisons that are being drawn. Literal drawings are also being drawn.

And if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Prue is marinating an adulation.

My favorite comes from an adult store somewhere in Brighton called Nice ‘N’ Naughty who’ve put together an entire GBBO themed window display, complete with a scantily dressed Prue stand-in with discerning taste in macarons.

As Americans (and Canadians), we’ve only just gotten our first taste of Prue’s candy-colored accessories. And I think they’re scrummy. Thankfully, there’s more GBBS to come. The current series that’s airing in Britain will be adorning Netflix’s neck soon.
