Well, if Netflix were looking for a distraction from the elephant in the fake White House, they’ve got one. According to reports at Variety, the streaming service are in the early stages of developing a spin-off to House of Cards, their first ever original series that brought with it such success. No ideas have been set in stone for the spin-off, although it seems one idea being tossed around is a show following Doug Stamper, played by Michael Kelly. No writers are attached to the other two unnamed spin-offs being discussed although Eric Roth, an executive producer on the show’s first 4 seasons is allegedly working on the Stamper idea. House of Cards changed the game for Netflix, making them a legitimate player in the system of major television production and paving the way for other non-traditional services to release original content.

House of Cards will end after its 6th season, and Netflix released a statement following the news that actor Anthony Rapp alleged Spacey sexually assaulted him when he was 14, saying they would be meeting with the show’s cast and crew soon. Currently, Space is currently not on set. Perhaps he is enjoying the view beneath the bus he threw the LGBTQ community under.

If Netflix are considering a spin-off to House of Cards, perhaps now is the time to just let Robin Wright take over. President Claire Underwood has a good ring to it.
