'Not Safe With Nikki Glaser' Tackles The Friend Zone, Foot Fetishists And Tinder Tapouts

You might recognize comedienne Nikki Glaser from her appearances on Inside Amy Schumer or as one of the Stepford Wives in that Trainwreck baby shower scene. Now, this sharp standup is joining Schumer on the front of late night lunacy with her brazen and blisteringly funny new show Not Safe.

Set up as a series of bits and interviews, Not Safe welcomed on a couple of guests (fellow comedians Rory Scovel and Rachel Feinstein) to talk about sex. After a brief but biting discussion about “The Friend Zone,” Glaser got up close and personal with her real friends by strapping them into a polygraph machine and demanding to know if they wanted to fuck. It sounds cringe-inducing. Okay, it is cringe-inducing. But it’s also excruciatingly hilarious, from the shocked reactions of her ambushed buds to the monotone yet raunchy responses of the polygraph administrator, as he declares, “Fingering is for guys with little wieners.”

As you should have guessed from the show’s title, all of the below are NSFW.

Sidenote: We all want to be friends with Virginia now, right?

Then it was time for a game called “Tinder Tapout,” where Glaser’s guests had to guess how much madness a random dude would put up with from fictional “kind of the worst” Kayla before bailing out on the text convo. I’m actually glad the full clip isn’t online, because the payoff demands your full attention. But there’s enough here that you’ll get the idea.

And finally, Glaser took a cue from Schumer’s bar-set interviews, exploring lesser known sexual terrain by attending a foot fetishist party and interviewing some of its toe-loving guests. Though laced with an eye toward entertainment, the segment isn’t about shaming these guys. Glaser sets up early that we’ve all got our quirks.

The smirking stand-up kicked off Not Safe by confessing that her sexual awakening came from the fingerbang rollercoaster scene from Fear (you know the one), then admitting she re-enacted it years later. “I got fingered on Space Mountain,” she confessed, cutting to one of those souvenir photos as an amazing visual aid. She sets up a safe space were she, viewers and guests can explore human sexuality with a sense of fun and without shame. So we laugh with her, and not at them.

The ep comes to a close with a mission statement from Glaser that has us pumped to see where Not Safe will go from here. She proclaims, “Life is short and sex is fun! So get out there and take some chances. If you want to be weird, be weird because you don’t want your dying words to be, ‘I should have done butt stuff in that Burger King bathroom!’ I say Carpe Do ‘Em! Goodnight, pervs.”

Not Safe With Nikki Glaser airs Tuesday nights at 10:30/9:30c on Comedy Central.
