No Room for Hateration: 'The Wiz Live' was Magical

NBC’s letting the creative team behind The Wiz Live take on all of its live musicals from now on, yes? Because that, y’all, was one of the more delightful and inspiring TV experiences I can remember. (Let us never speak of The Sound of Music Live again. NEVER.)

Oh, there were some people who were confused about the history of The Wiz/didn’t like what they were seeing? Whatevs. Mary J. Blige was on it.

Even I couldn’t help myself:

What we witnessed was magical, not to mention on point, from the performances to the sets to the choreography and dancing. Blige, Shanice Williams, Queen Latifah, Uzo Aduba, Ne-Yo, David Allen Grier, Elijah Kelley, Amber Riley, Cirque du Soleil acrobats all crushed it.

This was a moment, and one that was desperately needed.

And a star was born.

Amen.
