If you love melodrama, love songs, and lipsynching, Netflix has a new show just for you. Created by Smash producer Joshua Safran, Soundtrack follows a random smattering of beautiful Los Angeles residents as they experience the highs and lows of love.

The first trailer gives teases of some of these stories, but chiefly focuses on a fateful meet-cute and the romance that followed.

“Sing from sadness, sing from joy, sing with faith, because each one of us has a soundtrack, and it tells the story of all we have loved.”

ET reports Soundtrack’s first season will offer ten episodes. Each hour-long ep centers on a different pair of characters and their love story, which is not always of the romantic variety. Some will be about siblings, parents, children, or vocation. Multiple musical numbers will be offered in each story, 60 in total, featuring music from Etta James, Lauryn Hill, The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, and Dolly Parton. On top of all this, Soundtrack boasts a cast that includes Jenna Dewan, Megan Ferguson, Jahmil French, Callie Hernandez, Paul James, Madeleine Stowe, Campbell Scott, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

“It’s not your typical musical where you’re singing on a stage or walking down the hall singing a love song,” Safran assures, “Every song matters to the plot and every song is a huge production number.”

Soundtrack hits Netflix on December 18.
