Skarnes, Norway looks like an idyllic little community on the surface. The air is clean, the town is quiet, and the people live long, healthy lives. If anything things are too idyllic for Live Hallangen (Kathrine Thorborg Johansen) and her brother Odd (Elias Holmen Sørensen), who operates a struggling funeral home. It’s hard to pay the bills when no one ever kicks the bucket. Things change, however, when Live herself drops dead, only to inexplicably wake up again on the autopsy table. Needless to say, people are perturbed. Especially when Live begins developing some new… habits.
I suppose if you wake up a vampire, you may as well make the most of it and support the family business while you’re at it. Post Mortem: No One Dies in Skarnes gives Live the chance to do just that, while avoiding suspicious cops and exploring a mysterious family history.
We can all agree that Santa Clarita Diet had its afterlife cut short. Perhaps this Scandinavian dramedy can fill the void left behind. (Get it? Like an empty grave? You know what, never mind.) It looks like more of a slow burn than the Drew Barrymore show, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Post Mortem: No One Dies in Skarnes comes to life on August 25.
