NBC Picks Up "About A Boy," Gillian Anderson Returns with a New Series

NBC, which still hasn’t revealed the fate of either “Community” or “Parks and Recreation,” has nevertheless announced three drama orders. The first is About a Boy with David Weston (Jess’ doctor boyfriend on “New Girl”) and Minnie Driver, and before you get your neck in a crick, you should also know that it comes from Jason Katims (“Friday Night Lights” and “Parenthood”), so you can already trust that it will be the best new drama on NBC’s fall slate, even if the ratings never really soar.

Meanwhile, Gillian Anderson’s return as a series regular is official now, as NBC also picked up “Crisis,” with Anderson and Dermot Mulroney (another ex-boyfriend on “New Girl”). Here’s the “Crisis” logline, via EW: ” When Washington’s most powerful players are pulled into an international conspiracy, an unlikely puppeteer will bring everyone from CEOs to The President of the United States to their knees by threatening the things they hold most dear. Forced together by dire circumstances these power brokers, the FBI and a rookie secret service agent must unravel the mystery to take back control of their lives.

The other new drama comes from JJ Abrams, who also had a drama picked up by Fox last night. Believe is about “an unlikely relationship develops between a young girl with a gift and a man sprung from prison who has been tasked with protecting her from the evil elements that hunt her power.” Delroy Lindo will star.
