The PR folks at Quibi totally have my number. I received an email telling me about the mobile-only streaming service’s newest show announcement, for Murder Flip House. Lest you think they’re talking about some odd fictional series, I have to tell you that they are not. It’s a true crime home renovation show.

Sony Pictures Television is producing while Josh Berman (CSI, Bones), Chris King (Penny Dreadful) and Katherine Ramsland serve as executive producers on the series as it follows homeowners and contractors updating houses where heinous crimes were committed.

… an unconventional new home renovation show that takes on the country’s most infamous homes: the ones known for the mysterious murders and incredible intrigue committed behind their walls. Homeowners turn to the colorful cast of forensic specialists, spiritual healers and high-end renovation experts to uncover the true crimes, shocking secrets and scandalous history of their homes. Then, cleansing renovations remove the stains of the past and take these homes from morbid to marvelous.

This is par for the course for the streaming service that hasn’t even become available yet. In June they announced a Steven Spielberg horror series that viewers can only watch at night.

As for the series, they should be able to make it work for as many seasons as a CSI show, with hundreds and hundreds of homes around the world where murders took place. The Amityville Horror house, the former home of the Menendez family, Scott and Laci Peterson’s home… the list goes on and on, unfortunately.

The series will surely premiere soon after the streaming channel goes live in April 2020.
