Joe Biden selected Kamala Harris to be his running mate earlier today, and while there are certainly outliers on either side of the political spectrum, the consensus seems to be, “Cool, cool, cool.” Meanwhile, it took maybe half a second after the announcement before everyone on social media brought up Maya Rudolph, who plays her so perfectly on SNL.

Meanwhile, Rudolph herself was on a Zoom call with EW when the news broke, and she gave her immediate reaction to the possibility of playing Harris for the next 4-12 years on the variety show.
“Oh s—-. Ruh-roh,” she said.
As for whether she will continue appearing on SNL as the character, the answer is yes. “I love going to the show any excuse I can get…I just didn’t really anticipate traveling during this pandemic, but if there’s anyone who can work it out I’m sure Lorne has some kind of invisible helicopter that can get me there. Ever since I was a kid truly I wanted be on any kind of SCTV, Saturday Night Live and I can’t believe that I got to work there and I can’t believe that it’s my family still and I’m so thrilled that I got to go back. It’s my favorite place to play.”
On the other hand, it’s a bad day for Rachel Dratch.
