Last night, Rick and Morty Season 4 kicked off with “Edge of ToMorty: Rick Die Rickpeat.” And a lot went down, dawg.

Spoilers below for Rick and Morty Season 4.

In “Edge of ToMorty: Rick Die Rickpeat,” we see the out-there odd couple come into contact with death crystals that allow you to predict your death when you touch them. Morty sees a path to dying old with his crush, Jessica. So, he does anything it takes to follow that path, even when it means accidentally killing Rick and refusing to resurrect his grandpa through cloning. Of course, no Rick would leave his fate to a Morty. Operation Phoenix kicks into its back-up plan, booting Rick’s consciousness to clones of himself hibernating in other dimensions. Most-often these are fascist dimensions that throw Rick into uncomfortable scenarios and more gruesome deaths. Meanwhile, Morty basically becomes a supervillain—or American Monster—with the help of the crystal and an army of Mr. Meeseeks. Then things get really weird.
