Well, I can’t say I’m necessarily surprised by this news, but it still kind of stings.

Variety have reported that Jeffrey Tambor, recently accused of sexual harassment, will indeed appear in the upcoming 5th season of Arrested Development. Netflix greenlit the season last May, before the allegations surfaced, but given how quickly they got rid of Kevin Spacey from House of Cards, it didn’t seem all that unfeasible that they’d similarly wish to avoid problems here. Tambor was accused of multiple incidents of sexual misconduct by his former personal assistant as well as the actress Trace Lysette, who worked with him on Amazon’s Transparent.

Tambor has denied the allegations, and various cast members from Arrested Development have voiced support for him. David Cross said, “I can’t speak for everybody, but I know there are a number of us who stand behind him. From the limited amount we know, we stand behind Jeffrey — and I am one of them.”

Last month, Alia Shawkat voiced her support for Tambor’s accusers, telling IndieWire, “I support the voices of the victims though, whatever they said… it’s very … strange … I worked with him on two shows, too, so it’s kind of following me around. I hope it’s all handled legally, the way it should be, and taken into consideration. What those victims said needs to be heard just as much.”

Are you going to watch season 5 of Arrested Development? Can you even remember season 4? All I can recall is the terrible sound mixing. My heart will drop if the new season includes some shitty in-joke reference to all this, as spouted by Ron Howard.
