Jason Momoa Has Already Made His Best 'SNL' Sketch, and the Show Hasn't Even Aired

In all the years I have been covering Saturday Night Live, I don’t think my wife has ever intentionally sat down to watch a single episode (the lonely life of an SNL recapper). If she’s in the room, she may watch a sketch or two, before rolling her eyes and walking away.

But yesterday, after the first phenomenal SNL promo featuring Momoa (in the shower), she made plans to watch SNL this weekend. Nobody makes plans to watch SNL anymore! It’s what you watch if you’ve got nothing else to do on Saturday night, or you watch it on YouTube the next morning (hopefully, after looking to see which sketches are worth your time).

But this Momoa episode? After that first promo, and now this one, I am stoked, hyped up, and ready to be completely crushed by disappointment after the actual episode fails to live up to the expectations set here.

Have we ever seen an SNL promo that good? And if Momoa is spending so much of his time this week on a promo, is he going to have any time left over to make Saturday night’s show good? Does it matter? Because I’m content to give the promo a 10 out of 10, and if you lump it in even with a subpar episode, it’ll still make Saturday’s one of the best of the season.
