I’ve known my best friend for 14 years. We have been through a lot in that time. Breakups, firings, career switches, and flaming Dr. Pepper shots (he was in a frat). While we don’t drink as much anymore (we get sleepy), we text each other often and see each other when possible. He’s my go-to babysitter because he can and because he’s basically an uncle to my kids. We have a great friendship, yet it’s nothing compared to the bond between Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda.

Tomlin and Fonda have been friends for decades, and they act like it! They stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and their legendary friendship was put to the test. Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda took a Dating Game-style quiz about their friendship. It was incredibly charming.

Not only do the two poke fun at each other but they also reveal a few fun details. There’s a story about Dolly Parton and the creation of the 9 to 5 theme that is public knowledge but very exciting to hear. I assume this was filmed before the release of Dustin’s favorite film of 2022, 80 For Brady because there’s also a fun story about that. To give a tease, Dustin (and, to be fair, my mother twice) put money right into Lily Tomlin’s pocket, and that’s pretty great.

We should all be so lucky to have a bond like Tomlin and Fonda’s. It just takes some time.
