How Long Can Jordan Klepper Keep Doing This?

I’ve seen Jordan Klepper spar with Mike Lindell. I watched, frightened, as he braved the Capitol on January 6th. My hair was almost pulled out of its skull as I watched him talk to stupid anti-vaxxers in my favorite city. The man has waded through the worst Trump supporters possible and yet still manages to hit the bottom of the barrel again and again. It’s gotten to the point where I’m wondering if he can do this anymore. For his sake and, frankly, for mine!

I can’t act like what I’m doing is hard. If anything, it’s a lot of fun. I don’t have to, let’s say, listen to a woman use made-up math to explain why Donald Trump is still President. That’s what Klepper does. I don’t know how he keeps doing it, but watching it can be challenging. The people he talks to are so disconnected from reality it’s hard to not feel overwhelmed. How do you change the mind of someone who thinks America has two militaries? Why do you talk to them in the first place?

The second question is easy to answer: you do it for those sweet, sweet clicks. If there is a new Klepper video, I am going to write about it because it will do well. I can only assume that Comedy Central, and Klepper himself, have reached the same conclusion. People like to watch him go toe-to-toe with the crazies. There’s a benefit to that, I think. It’s important to see, in action, how far gone some of these people can be. Sometimes it’s hard not to laugh, but others, it’s hard not to gasp. That is the unfortunate tightrope act of dealing with Trump and his supporters.

I don’t know how much longer Klepper can keep doing this, both because of the small size of this rally, and for his and my sanity. That said, if Trump keeps running, he will have more rallies. That means Klepper will have more places to go, and I’ll be glued to my keyboard, trying not to pull my hair out. Tradition. Thanks for clicking!
