Ghost Face Haunts NYC In New 'Scream VI' Trailer

I loved the 2022 Scream. I’m a big fan of all the movies. Yes, even number three. It’s silly, but we got an excellent Parker Posey performance. The Scream franchise is in a rare group for me. Along with the Don Mancini Child’s Play films, Scream is one of the few horror franchises where I legitimately enjoy watching every movie. Imagine my delighted surprise to find that today, on the day of my birth (NBD), we would be blessed with a new trailer for the next entry in the Scream franchise!

The survivors (aside from Neve Campbell, because she knows her worth) from the last film have relocated to NYC. However, Ghost Face has followed along with a new, albeit old, mask and some new tricks. Like shotguns! A quick aside, I often wonder why guns don’t get featured in horror movies very often. It does happen on occasion, I could also just be missing certain films, but given how horror often holds a mirror to current issues, and guns are a pretty big issue, I’m surprised we don’t see it more.

Anyway! Joining the new cast from the last film are some franchise favorites. Courtney Cox’s Gale Weathers is back and helping Dermot Mulroney keep a Scream museum. Just to be objective, that was one of the only moments in the trailer that made me raise a questioning eyebrow. It felt very Batcave-like, not in a fun way, but I trust the filmmakers. We also see the return of Hayden Panettiere as Kirby Reed! Kirby hasn’t been seen since Scream IV, where she was presumed dead. I love Scream IV and can’t wait to see how Kirby is worked back into the fold.

Scream VI is on its way, and I’m brimming with excitement. The franchise is in great hands and could be heading to some fun, new places!

Or they could just feed all the Jack Quaids out there and give us the return of Stu Macher, dammit!!
