Previously on Deadly Class: After using hallucinogenic blowdarts to take their revenge on their fellow students who have been harassing them, Marcus, Saya, Petra, Viktor, and Chico were placed in detention all weekend by Master Lin, where they were attacked by masked assassins who turned out to be Saya’s cousins from Tokyo looking to bring her back home. Maria used Chico’s absence as an opportunity to get a passport from Willie so she could eventually leave Chico once and for all. After suffering another beating at the hands of his father, Billy decides to go to Las Vegas and kill him in order to keep his mother and younger brother safe. And Marcus is still being hunted by his former classmate from the orphanage.

THE STORY SO FAR: Marcus and Billy sneak out of King’s Dominion and head to Las Vegas to kill Billy’s father. They are joined by Saya, Maria, and Willie, and when you’re an unsupervised teenager going to Sin City for nefarious reasons, it’s somewhat to be expected that drugs will eventually be on the menu. Saya and Maria get themselves some cocaine to snort, and Marcus gets some acid. Seven tabs of acid, all of which he ingests at once because he thinks it’s fake. He soon finds out that is not the case, and the only thing missing from his very long and strange acid trip is him going around and yelling “I AM THE LIZARD QUEEN!”. Despite all of this, he is still able to help Billy confront his father before killing him; understandably freaks out when he ends up in the same elevator as his former roommate from the orphanage, Chester a.k.a. Fuckface (according to the comics); and nearly has sex with Maria before Chico (who has followed them all the way to Vegas) kicks in the door, waving the .44, and fires many a shot in Marcus’ direction. That leads to a showdown in a nearby alleyway that ends with Chico curb-stomping Marcus and about to kill him, only to end up getting his throat slit by Maria and her Church Fan Of Death.

WHAT’S GOOD ABOUT THIS EPISODE?: Seeing Marcus completely lose his shit after being foolish enough to take so many hits of acid all at once, from seeing Hunter S. Thompson walk past him in a casino to visualizing Master Lin coming to his rescue after he’s taken into custody by casino security. Billy looking at his father’s corpse and still crying his eyes out over his death, all because of the numerous ways that he failed him and his family as a father, and Marcus doing what he can in his addled state of mind to comfort him. Willie’s pacifism coming to light when Chico dares him to pull the trigger on him to save Marcus. Maria finally realizing that she’s had enough and putting Chico down her damn self. And Saya having to fight back tears, as she’s not at all happy once she sees that Marcus and Maria are now together.

WHAT’S NOT SO GOOD ABOUT THIS EPISODE?: It would have been nice to see Saya and Maria and Willie have their own fun and do their own thing while in Las Vegas, though it is understandable that they’d rather focus on helping their friend who is tripping balls rather than run off and paint the town red (in the literal or figurative sense). And I don’t know if I missed a detail or two in this episode, but how exactly did Chester find Marcus in Las Vegas? I would’ve expected him to show up at King’s Dominion, but not on a road trip requiring Marcus to sneak away from King’s Dominion.

IS HENRY ROLLINS IN THIS EPISODE?: No. His character is still in hiding and on the run.

IS IT TRUE THAT ICE-T IS IN THIS EPISODE?: He is, sort of, as he voices a slot machine with his image in it that does nothing but talk shit to Marcus as he plays for quarters.

IS MARCUS’ ROOMMATE FROM THE ORPHANAGE IN THIS EPISODE? AND IS HE STILL HAVING SEX WITH ANIMALS?: Yes, he is and instead of instantly killing Marcus when he finds him, he decides to stretch things out because he wants to make a show of how he kills Marcus. As to whether he’s still having sex with animals, we don’t see him doing that in this episode, but once Chico is killed and Marcus and company leave the alleyway before the cops can show up, Chester appears and stands before Chico’s bloodied corpse lying on the ground and we’re left wondering what he’s probably going to do with (or to) it.

DOES SAYA GET HUNTED BY ANY MORE OF HER COUSINS FROM TOKYO?: No.

HOW MANY F-BOMBS ARE IN THIS EPISODE?: Plenty.

ANY MURDER/DEATH/KILLS IN THIS EPISODE?: Besides Chico getting his throat slit by Maria, there is at least one unfortunate store owner who is shot by Chico after his attempt to disarm him.

TO SUM IT ALL UP: A very wild and bonkers episode, complete with all the sex and drugs and bloodshed that one would expect from a Deadly Class story set in Las Vegas. As much as I may have cheered when Maria finally killed Chico to protect herself as well as her friends, it was also a bit upsetting after last week’s episode when Chico showed some hints of being likable as well as a possibility of even becoming friends with Marcus. But after this episode, any expectations of Marcus and Chico being like Jack and Sawyer from Lost and going from bitter enemies to good friends have pretty much been buried for good. And we’re now waiting for things to only get worse now that Chester has finally found Marcus and clearly has a score to settle with him.
