Hot off the success of Hamilton, the charismatic and mad handsome Tony-winner Daveed Diggs is being hotly sought. But the man with the motor mouth and rakish grin has weighed his options and picked two potentially thrilling new projects. The first is a remake of Snowpiercer, and before you harumph about how it’s too soon to remake an excellent 2013 movie, let’s divulge some details.

THR reports this Snowpiercer would be a TV series to air on TNT. Announced as part of the channel’s upfronts, the show would be set seven years after the world became a frozen wasteland, forcing the few survivors onto an endlessly running train, where people are boarded by class. As those in the front live in luxury, those in the back live in filth, crowded conditions, scraping for food, and getting high on industrial waste called Chronole.

Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson is set to helm the pilot, which seems a weird choice when the original Snowpiercer director Bong Joon Ho and its original producer/another astonishing filmmaker Park Chan-wook are both on board to produce the series. Like we’ve got a burger when we could have had steak. But, okay.

As to Diggs, he won’t be playing the Chris Evans role of reluctant revolutionary. Instead, he’ll play “Layton Well, a prisoner barely surviving the harsh conditions in the tail end of the train. A quiet thinker who spends his days sniffing the industrial-waste-turned-drug Chronole and tending to his cage full of rats, Layton becomes a reluctant participant in a struggle that could upend life on the train.”

Right now, Snowpiercer only has a pilot order, so it remains to be seen how big a role Diggs will have or even if this ambitious sci-fi show will make it to series. But don’t worry for Diggs. He’s also producing a sitcom about a hip-hop artist-turned-mayor for ABC.

Despite the seemingly perfect setup for him, The Mayor will not star Daveed Diggs. He and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon writer Jeremy Bronson created the show which will star Brandon Micheal Hall in the lead role. Lea Michele, Yvette Nicole Brown and David Spade co-star. Here’s a trailer:

Come on. That’s charming as hell. And did you spot the Diggs cameo?
