I like vampires. I like sexy Scandinavian actors. The meeting of the two is the chocolate and peanut butter of my life. So imagine my delight when Danish actor Claes Bang, best known for The Square and having recently appeared in The Girl in the Spider’s Web, was announced as the new Dracula. Hell yes, I love this song, turn it up!

What’s that you say? It’s the BBC adaptation of Dracula that your arch nemesis Steven Moffat is making? Curses, I knew that monkey’s paw would bring me nothing but bad luck.

Moffat is not as smart a writer as he thinks he is. He loves big flashy concepts that get over-complicated, then when he has no idea how to tie it all up in a satisfying manner that makes sense, he throws out more fireworks then sneers at his audience for not being smart enough to get it. He did it with Sherlock, he did it with his run on Doctor Who and he did it with Jekyll, and that thing only lasted 6 episodes! Also he’s got a nasty sexist streak and he thinks mocking his own damn fanbase is funny because he seems to think his work is above the passionate young women it frequently appeals to.

*sigh*

But look, I love any and all iterations of Dracula. I’m the woman who owns Dracula 2000 on DVD and voluntarily watches it regularly. So of course I’ll watch this. And Claes Bang is awesome. He’s the right mix of charming, sinister, smarmy and weird to be the Count. But yeah, when I saw the headline ‘Danish actor to play Dracula’, you can imagine where my mind went. Still, I’m down with this.

Don’t f—k it up, Moffat!
