Daniel Craig Hosts a Very Good 'SNL,' but It's Elizabeth Warren Who May Bring You to Tears

The Ingraham Angle — The cold open takes up the Coronavirus with Laura Ingraham and a bevy of guests, including Jeanine Pirro, Don and Eric Trump, and then Darrell Hammond drops by to play Chris Matthews. The final guest on the show is Elizabeth Warren, and it’s funny right up until the moment you literally start crying. We could have had 8 years of Elizabeth Warren, America. You monsters. (Score: 8 out of 10)

Daniel Craig Monologue — The monologue is really just a pretaped skit, which sees Daniel Craig — as Bond — playing craps in a casino and losing his mind over how good he is. I don’t know why they didn’t save this for the regular show, but it is hilarious. (Score: 8 out 10)



The Sands of Modesto — It’s one of those overdramatic soap operas (like The Californians), only because of Covid-19, no one can touch each other, which results is a few surprising (and surprisingly funny) alterations. (Score: 6 out of 10)

On the Couch — Kenan, Chris Redd, and The Weeknd perform a song called “Sleeping on the couch tonight,” about three guys in the doghouse with their wives. It’s not that funny, but the song is very good. (Score: 5 out of 10)

Daytime Show — A famous singer appears on a daytime talk show with a chef (played by Daniel Craig), and she gets into a petty argument with him over an unintentional slight. It’s a one-joke skit, and not a particularly funny joke. (Watch Here) (Score: 3 out of 10)

Debbie Downer Wedding Reception — Amy Klobuchar dropped out of the race, but that doesn’t mean there’s no reason to have Rachel Dratch back as Debbie Downer, bringing down a wedding reception over Coronavirus fears. It goes exactly like you think it will, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. But also, the Debbie Downer skits were never all that funny. (Score: 5 out of 10)

Weekend Update — A decent, low-key “Update” this week that tackles the *yawn* Democratic nomination and the Coronavirus. Best jokes: A “Weeknd Update,” and Che comparing voing for Democrats to wearing a condom. “You don’t like it, but it’s safer.” Bowen Yang as Bottle Boi talks about the plastic-bag ban in NYC (Watch Here) and the Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation returns to talk about the Coronavirus and stick her hand in Che’s mouth.

Accent Coach — A terrible dialect coach comes in to help Daniel Craig with his Southern accent for Knives Out. It’s a bad skit salvaged in the end only by the fact that Craig and the accent coach can aggresively puke on command. (Watch Here) (Score: 4 out of 10)

Deep Quote Game Night — This is a deeply silly skit where they try and identify “deep quotes” from movies, but everyone is having such a good time in the skit that it’s hard not to enjoy it a little. (Watch Here) (Score: 4 out of 10)

Overnight Salad — Listen, Mat. The closest thing to the Mat skit of the week was Daniel Craig vomiting in “Accent Coach,” but this skit is funny, only in a smarter/sillier way. I’m gonna call it the Haz skit of the week.
