With exactly one month to go until Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop adaptation gets released, the cast and crew have decided to grant us with a lengthy teaser to wet our collective whistles. Titled “Cowboy Bebop: The Lost Sessions,” the nearly two and a half minute long video is a super-stylized vision of the show. Although none of it contains any actual footage of the series—though the appearance of one specific bad guy (one may say “vicious,” even) will certainly play out in the actual series—it does present a fun, 70s-themed glimpse at Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) doing what they do best: bicker and bounty hunt.
Official trailer in 1 week.

Until then, may we humbly present… THE LOST SESSION. #cowboybebop #thelostsession pic.twitter.com/EeWxfPjfSP
The credits and lovely cast images are great, but this is the sampling I’ve been waiting for. Some people may be thrown off by the lo-fi look and feel of this artsy teaser (which, again, is almost certainly not what the finished product will look like), but it gave me exactly what I needed, which is to see these characters in motion and interacting with one another. That Spike flip kick? Amazing. Faye’s facial expressions? Immaculate. Jet’s scolding? Superb (I say it over and over again, but Shakir’s casting is pure perfection). If you’re feeling impatient for a look at actual show footage, don’t fret, because the full-length trailer will be released exactly one week from now. But hey, if none of that works for you, there’s always the original series, which will be available to stream on Netflix starting October 21st.
Cowboy Bebop (live-action series) will be airing on Netflix on November 19th.
