Someone needs to tell the folks at Peacock that the appeal of the Winston Scott character in the John Wick universe is Ian McShane. You can’t just throw any guy in a cravat on the screen and expect us to get excited about The Continental: From the World of John Wick. Especially when perennially cancelable Mel Gibson is also in it. Sorry to the rest of the cast. But, you’re all pretty young; you’ll bounce back.

Let’s not even hate-watch this fake ’70s-looking limited series when it hits Peacock on September 22nd. I’m tired of Mel Gibson being given more chances.

No one was talking about the first season of Invasion on Apple TV+, but maybe this trailer for the second season will draw people in.

Golshifteh Farahani, Shamier Anderson, Shioli Kutsuna, Daisuke Tsuji, and India Brown all return from season one when season two of Invasion starts on Apple TV+ on August 23rd.

I tried to count how many movies there are on IMDb with the name “The Changeling” and there are just too many. It’s a good concept. The idea of your child or loved one secretly being replaced by a mystical creature that wants to feed off of your love or exact some sort of revenge is terrifying.

This new series from Apple TV+ is based on Victor LaValle’s 2017 novel by the same name. It’s a grown-up fairy tale about a man (LaKeith Stanfield) who is forced to go on a search through an unknown version of New York City for his wife (Letterkenny’s Clark Backo) after the couple refuses to follow the rules laid out by a mysterious woman met at a Brazilan waterfall.

I think we can all agree that if you should meet a strange woman distributing string bracelets near a Brazilian waterfall you should do whatever she tells you to do. Is she a mermaid? Is she a witch? Who cares? How hard is it to just leave the piece of string around your wrist?

Season One of The Changeling begins on Apple TV+ on September 8th.

This week’s lagniappe is courtesy of Paramount+ where Taylor Sheridan reigns supreme. In partnership with David Oyelowo, Sheridan is Executive Producing the story of Bass Reeves.

A lot of folks only learned about Bass Reeves from The Watchmen. Even before Damon Lindelof educated us on the historic lawman, people have been clamoring for a series or a movie based on his life. Hopefully, this story can break itself out of the Sheridan mold so it doesn’t look and feel like every other show he has running on Paramount+.
