ABC's Strike-Proof Fall Schedule Is Pathetic

This, to my understanding, is the breakdown of costs to the individual studios based on the current WGA proposals. It’s a pittance. It’s basically one-third of Apple CEO Tim Cook’s annual salary. It is 1/128th of what Elon Musk spent on Twitter. It is slightly more than half the advertising revenue generated by the Super Bowl. And it’s for 11,000 writers who produce the content that generates the money that makes up a large percentage of the revenue these companies produce:

What are we doing here? What is wrong with the studios? We all know they have a certain dollar amount in mind, and we also know they are just waiting until picketing softens the WGA just enough that they will accept it. Stop. Pay them what they’re asking for now. It is infinitely reasonable. Because the alternative is a fall schedule with an hour and a half episodes of Survivor and Amazing Race and this pathetic ABC fall schedule:

Monday
8 p.m.: Dancing With the Stars
10 p.m.: The Golden Bachelor

Tuesday
8 p.m.: Celebrity Jeopardy!
9 p.m.: Bachelor in Paradise

Wednesday
8 p.m.: Judge Steve Harvey
9 p.m.: Abbott Elementary repeats
10 p.m.: What Would You Do?

Thursday
8 p.m.: Celebrity Wheel of Fortune
9 p.m.: Press Your Luck
10 p.m.: The $100,000 Pyramid

Friday
8 p.m.: Shark Tank
9 p.m.: 20/20

Saturday
7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT: Saturday Night College Football

Sunday
7 p.m.: America’s Funniest Home Videos
8 p.m.: The Wonderful World of Disney

Gameshows, a Bachelor series for seniors, and Abbott Elementary reruns? How much money in ad revenue is Disney set to lose because they’re airing The $100,000 Pyramid instead of Grey’s Anatomy, because they’re running a hidden camera show (What Would You Do?) instead of 9-1-1 or Not Dead Yet? Or Abbott Elementary reruns we can already watch at any time on Hulu instead of new episodes. The Rookie, Will Trent, and The Good Doctor will also get pushed to midseason because Disney won’t pay less than 1/10th of a percent of its annual revenue to pay the writers who will write those shows, plus all the Marvel and Star Wars series, as well as the Marvel and Star Wars movies.

Instead, we’re going to get no whammies, no whammies, no whammies Press Your Luck, which is hosted by Elizabeth Banks, who probably wouldn’t have agreed to do it but for the fact that the episodes are probably already taped (it was originally scheduled to air this summer). Meanwhile, it’ll be Ken Jennings hosting Celebrity Jeopardy because Mayim Bialik won’t cross the picket line. Scab.

That schedule is pathetic and completely unnecessary.
