A ‘Love Is Blind’ Contestant Allegedly Had a Girlfriend While Filming

The men of Love Is Blind season six continue to disappoint. Last week I was singing the praises of Trevor Sova, the mulleted bodybuilder who was rejected in the pods by Chelsea Blackwell—who may or may not look like Megan Fox, depending on who you ask—because he seemed like a sweet, normal guy when compared to the rest of the weirdos.

Well, it doesn’t happen often, but I was wrong about Sova, because it turns out he probably had a girlfriend while filming the show.

The news comes per Ashley Thompson of @therealityashley—who is sort of like a Reality Steve or Perez Hilton for a new generation—who was contacted by one Natalia Marrero, who claimed she’d been dating Sova when he was cast on the show and continued to date him when he left the pods single. And she’s a bodybuilder! So that tracks!

Marrero provided Thompson with a selfie of her and Sova together as well as screenshots of their text exchanges from before and after Sova was in the pods.

It appears that Sova, upon leaving to date women in the pods with the hopes of getting engaged to one of them, told Marrero, “I love you so much honey. I’m excited for it but more excited to go get back to you after and start our life together.” Then it looks like he texted her the moment he was released from filming twoish weeks later, calling her a pet name and saying “Do you still love me :),” and then “I love you more than anything in this world and I’m going to marry you.” Well, he didn’t, and then they broke up earlier this month, as the show was airing.

Sova has yet to respond to these allegations, so the jury is technically still out as to the truth of them, but Blackwell, the woman Sova got close to proposing to on the show, responded in a way that suggests she believes it all to be true, posting a picture of the two of them on her story and writing, “Yall we have to understand…we are humans. We have all made mistakes. Our lives went incredibly public very fast. All we can do is have grace. It’s a very unfortunate situation. But I wouldn’t wish this amount of hate on anyone. Remember to be kind.”

Marrero also posted a plea for…not kindness, but basic respect:

This is now the second instance of this season’s casting being questioned after another contestant, Jeramey Lutinski, was recruited via Instagram DM at the last minute and said yes even though he’d broken off an engagement just a few weeks prior. It just makes the casting process seem kind of lazy. Someone like Sova can simply lie to casting and say he’s not in a relationship, hasn’t been recently, and is ready for marriage, and maybe he did, but maybe he was recruited too and couldn’t say no to an opportunity to get bodybuilder Instagram famous.

It suggests that the people on these shows aren’t taking the threat of marriage at the end very seriously, but Love Is Blind is a show that positions itself as a very serious, very romantic show for people who believe in soulmates and being together forever. If the goal is for everyone to end up happily married, they’re way off. But maybe that’s not the goal.
