'True Detective' May Be Returning, and Oh No ...

Old schoolers here may remember how much I lost my sh*t over True Detective season one, only to be met with a season finale so anticlimactic and disappointing that I swore off television for a full 24 hours. Season two was worse, only it was eight episodes of disappointment that apparently ended Taylor Kitsch’s career once and for all.

Now HBO may be reviving True Detective, but not like those times before when HBO was just like, “We’ll look into it …” EW has learned that creator Nic Pizzolatto has actually written the first two episodes of the series, and I guess he must have got stuck or something, because they have enrolled David Milch (Deadwood, NYPD Blue) to lend a hand.

Milch would be an interesting writer/consultant, because he is a strong writer who has experience with crime television. He’s also a B-A-N-A-N on the B-A-N-A-N-A-S scale. He once had a heart attack arguing over a script with David Caruso, he lost $25 million betting on horses during a four year period, and thanks to an extensive gambling habit, he is $17 million in debt. He also wrote John in Cincinnati. #neverforget

Milch, according to EW, has not been assigned the role of showrunner yet. In fact, the show hasn’t even been officially renewed for a third season, but it’s in the works. Progress has been made. Scripts have been written, and Taylor Kitsch is still waiting by his phone.
