Sometimes, the commercials are the best part.
While plenty of us are looking forward to David Fincher’s Gone Girl, I’ll admit to some trepidation over Rosamund Pike as Amy Dunne — her flat voiceover work in the trailers continues to stumble me. But perhaps that’s the point. Speaking with EW, Pike said she modeled her character after Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy — a wife the public never felt we knew. What do you know? That little statement somehow made it all come together (at least in my head).
“There’s not much out there about her. You never heard her speak…You just see those pictures of her hiding her face. The way she moved—I used quite a lot of that body language and mood. She’s the dream girl…That’s what Amy was for Nick. She’s the one you can’t get out of your head because she’s perfect.”
Scored by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Gone Girl also stars Ben Affleck, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Scoot McNairy and Sela Ward; it hits theaters October 3rd.
