Yeah, But Will 'The Woods' Really Be One of The Scariest Movies Ever?

The trailer for this fall’s The Woods debuted today, boasting that it’s one of the “scariest movies ever,” which is an awfully big boast to live up to. Let’s take a look at the trailer to see if there’s any evidence therein to indicate that it might be as advertised.

The slow-playing cover songs are played out, but that cover of “Every Breath You Take” is sufficiently chilling. There’s nothing in the footage, however, that suggests it’s a slightly better shot Blair Witch Project.

So, should we trust it?

Probably. Why? Because it comes from director Adam Wingard, the man behind You’re Next, The Guest, and V/H/S.

As importantly, the people who have seen it have been impressed.

Details about the movie have been kept under wraps, but I think we all know who the film’s real villain is: Katie Featherston, who was diagnosed as clinically insane and went on a killing spree after appearing in all those Paranormal Activity films.
