I always have mixed feelings about horse racing, but there’s no denying that there’s some compelling drama to be mined out of the sport/industry. Now, with all of that said, you could throw the names involved at me — Michael Mann, Dustin Hoffman, Joan Allen, Nick Nolte, Kerry Condon, and Kevin Dunn — and tell me it’s a show about a pottery class, and I’d still be sold on it. It’s just too interesting a combination of talent to ignore, regardless of the subject matter. Of course, to sweeten the pot, the show is written and co-produced by David Milch, who served as a writer for “NYPD Blue” and “Deadwood.” That’s a hell of a combo.
