What Even Is This SWINTON Movie?
Tilda SWINTON occupies a very magical, strange place in our collective understanding. She’s an actor who can seamlessly transform onscreen, a chameleon in haute couture. She exudes a dizzying cool, relishes in fierce and flawless fashion. And when she naps, it’s literally art.
She’s not flawless, this we’ve learned. But we still go giddy in anticipation of any SWINTON project. And the marketing team for Okja seem to be aiming right for our interests, unveiling this new teaser where SWINTON ponders what pigs’ nightmares are like. It’s very on brand.
“We know the secret to great tasting tenderloins: tenderness.”
Written and directed by Bong Joon Ho (Snowpiercer), Okja stars Tilda Swinton as the charming CEO of the Mirando Corporation.
Jake Gyllenhaal appears (in an arguably smoking hot character creation) as Dr. Johnny Wilcox, a TV personality/zoologist/face of the Mirando Corporation.
But its story centers on a young girl named Mija (An Seo Hyun), who makes an usual best friend that she must rescue from big business, meaning Mirando. And her friend is maybe a synthesized pig rhino monster.
Ojka arrives on Netflix on June 28. And we’re counting the days.
