'Vinyl' Is the Rock & Roll Cure For Our HBO Fatigue

Between the last season of Game of Thrones and the current season of True Detective, many of us have found our HBO love to be wilting a bit. Add to that the return of the uber-bleak The Leftovers, and the days of Veep and really anything with even a modicum of lightness seem so very long ago.

So the new trailer for Vinyl is a welcome kickstart of excitement. The show, which is a collaboration between Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger that’s been in the works for years, just got its title and a quick Instagram teaser earlier this week.

Looks fun, right? Or, well, maybe “fun” is the wrong word, but… boisterously destructive? It’s chock full of lips, drugs and rock & roll. The show, which also comes from Terence Winter (Boardwalk, The Sopranos) is a behind-the-scenes look at the 1970s rock industry. Today, HBO released its first full trailer and oh man does it look great. It’s the all-caps version of a trailer: DRUGS. MUSIC. CONFETTI. SMASHING THINGS. BOBBY CANNAVALE. MORE DRUGS.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t come out until sometime next year. In the meantime, isn’t it about time for a Westworld trailer, HBO?
