By some sort of weird cosmic coincidence, I only just watched The Way Way Back last night, so I was immediately drawn to the Sam Rockwell, Allison Janney, Amanda Peet trio reunited for Clark Gregg’s second directorial feature. Honestly, if not for the reassembly I’d probably have sped right past it. Gregg, who also wrote the screenplay and stars in this comedy about a struggling Hollywood agent, is a likable enough guy—but having only seen him in The Avengers and Marvel’s Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D.—his schtick was getting a little tired. It’s nice to see him change things up. I’m still not certain this’ll be up my alley, but the cast Gregg assembled is so good (love me a little Rockwell sleaze and Janney is a GEM), I’ll probably give it a shot.
Trust Me also stars Paul Sparks, Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, Molly Shannon, and Saxon Sharbino as Gregg’s young client. It’ll be available May 6th on VOD and in theaters, June 6th.
